Rotary International

Rotary is an international organisation of professional and business leaders dedicated to humanitarian service. We encourage and promote high ethical standards in private and business life, and we advance goodwill and understanding in the world under the motto Service above Self.

Through our six main areas of focus - promoting peace, combating and treating disease, providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene, saving mothers and children, providing education, and growing local economies – as well as our club activities and humanitarian projects, Rotary clubs serve their communities on both local and global levels.

Rotary International (RI) is the world’s first service club – a voluntary not-for-profit organisation whose members are engaged in humanitarian projects with a view to providing humanitarian service for their communities. Currently, there are more than 1.2 million Rotarians worldwide. Due to its humanitarian projects and programmes, such as PolioPlus and World Understanding and Peace, Rotary International is also an international NGO recognised by the UN.

Rotary International provides funds for its projects and programmes through the Rotary Foundation (RF). The Rotary Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Rotary Foundation who share their vision of a better world. From the first initial contribution Rotarians have donated more than USD 3 billion to the Rotary Foundation.
